Information for Advertising Job Vacancies with the Colorado Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)

Why Advertise Job Vacancies with CHIMA?

CHIMA is a non-profit professional organization of about 700 health information professionals in the state of Colorado. Most CHIMA members hold one or more of the following AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) credentials:

  • RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator)
  • RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)
  • CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
  • CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician Based)
  • CCA (Certified Coding Associate)
  • CHP (Certified in Healthcare Privacy)
  • CHPS (Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security)

In addition, non-CHIMA members can and do access CHIMA’s website for information, including HIM professionals from other states seeking to relocate to Colorado.

If you have a job vacancy for health information professionals, there is no quicker way to reach such a concentrated group of qualified professionals than via CHIMA. The cost per professional reached is likely less than any other available alternative, and the speed to reach them is also likely less than any other available route.

What Media Can Be Used to Advertise?

CHIMA offers three media for job advertisements: the CHIMA website Job Bank, a special e-mail broadcast to the membership, and the newsletter. Since the newsletter comes out quarterly, and organizations usually want to fill vacancies quickly, we recommend advertising in the newsletter only if the publication date is near or if the organization anticipates several months to collect applications and fill the position, perhaps because the position is hard to fill or is a high level position that will entail a months-long search.

The best way to reach the most people most quickly is to post the advertisement on the website Job Bank, accompanied by a special e-mail broadcast to the membership with the details of the position.

How to Advertise Via the Website Job Bank

Advertisers communicate with the CHIMA Office Coordinator to record billing and payment information. The Office Coordinator will send a message to the advertiser with the approval code so the position can be posted. The organization is responsible for posting and removing all positions in the Job Bank. Advertisers may include a link to their organization or contact person.

How to Advertise Via Special E-Mail Broadcast

Advertisers communicate with the CHIMA Office Coordinator to record billing and payment information. Advertisers send the content of the e-mail broadcast to the Office Coordinator, who will post the message. Advertisers may include a link to their organization or contact person.

How to Advertise Via the CHIMA Newsletter

The quarterly newsletter, The Laser, is published on the 15th of March, June, September and December. Submission of materials for publication is due on the 15th of the month prior to publication month, or the 15th of February, May, August and November. Advertisers communicate with the CHIMA Office Coordinator to record billing and payment information. Text of the ad may be sent to the Office Coordinator via fax, e-mail, or Microsoft compatible attachment. Advertisers will receive a copy of The Laser in which their ad appears.

    Rates

Web posting on the CHIMA website Job Bank: $45 per month

(This charge includes a generic monthly e-mail broadcast to the membership that will indicate that there are new jobs posted on the website and that they should log onto the website to check them out. The e-mail broadcast itself will not carry details about your job, but will only remind members that they should look on the web.)

Special e-mail broadcast to the membership: $80 per broadcast

(This e-mail broadcast will be restricted to your message alone, and can carry all the text and details of the job that you write for the ad, to be delivered directly into the e-mail boxes of members. This special broadcast can include a link to your website or contact person.)

Special e-mail broadcast to the membership when ordered in conjunction with a posting on the website Job Bank:

$40 per broadcast (discounted 50% from the regular $80 fee)

    Payment

CHIMA is not a commercial business, but a volunteer non-profit organization. Therefore, CHIMA prefers pre-payment by check at the time of placement of the ad. Orders of $50 or less must be prepaid. For larger orders, CHIMA prefers prepayment by check, but the advertiser may be invoiced and billed, if necessary. A check may be an organization check or your personal check (should you choose to be reimbursed by your organization). All contact and billing information must be provided at the time of placement of the ad. CHIMA also accepts credit cards in the event checks are not possible or cannot be generated in time.

If your organization has been invoiced and billed, CHIMA expects payment within one month of the date the ad was placed. Late fees are $5 per month after the due date. In the event an organization fails to pay fees within 3 months of placement of the ad, the organization will either be barred from future advertising with CHIMA or placed on a pre-payment only basis.

    Required contact and billing information:

    ·Facility/Company name

·Person responsible for placing the advertisement

    ·Complete address

    ·Telephone Number

·For credit card payments: credit card number, expiration date and name of card holder as it reads on the card

    CHIMA Contact Information

CHIMA is a volunteer professional organization. Two major contact people are a volunteer Job Bank Coordinator and CHIMA’s Office Coordinator. The volunteer Job Bank Coordinator can keep in contact with you and discuss advertising options. Payment of fees and handling of the advertisement copy is handled by CHIMA’s Office Coordinator:

    Other Information

CHIMA reserves the right to decline to advertise job positions, due to an organization’s prior non-payment of fees, inappropriate advertising material, non-relevance to the HIM profession or at CHIMA’s sole discretion. In all cases, the content of advertisements is up to the advertiser subject, however, to review by CHIMA for appropriateness.
