Regis University’s HIM Program
The Health Information Management Program within the Department of Health Services Administration and Management offers a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management and a post baccalaureate Certificate in HIM for those students who already have earned a bachelor’s degree. Either option allows the student to sit for the national RHIA certification exam. Using a unique student-centered model of multi-disciplinary collaborative education, graduates are prepared to be leaders in the health care field. The innovative and dynamic faculty bring years of practical and applied experience to the curriculum.
Now offered online, beginning Fall 2006!
The HIA curriculum:
Prepares students for profession that offers extensive growth potential
Provides eligibility to take the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) exam upon graduation
Offers convenient every-other-weekend classes and online
Allows seamless progression into the graduate program (Health Services Administration)
Students accepted to the Bachelor of Science or Certificate program must have completed the following prior to enrolling in HIM courses:
HIM Bachelor’s Degree Students:
English Composition (3 credits)
Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II (without labs) (6)
Computer Literacy (within past five years) (3)
Recommended: Medical Terminology (2)
HIM Certificate Students:
Human Anatomy & Physiology I & II (without labs) (6)
Medical Terminology (2)
Recommended: Accounting (3)
RHIT Progression/Credentialed Students:
If the student has successfully completed an associate degree in Health Information Technology at a regionally accredited and CAHIIM accredited program and/or has RHIT certification, the following course work with a grade C or better may be equated:
HSC 310 - Medical Terminology (2)
HIM 313 - Introduction to Health Information Management (3)
HIM 320 - Fundamentals of Disease (3) (Pathophysiology &
Pharmacology)
HIM 350 - Disease Classification/Reimbursement Systems I (3)
HIM 351 - Disease Classification/Reimbursement Systems II (3)
HIM 385 - Directed Practice (2)
Other courses may be accepted pending approval by the program director.
A minimum of 30 hours must be taken with Regis University.
