Thank you so much for your participation in Taking Action during the Patient ID Week Campaign. Colorado took the lead with 66 CHIMA members writing to their representatives to Repeal Section 510 from the Appropriations bill and Support Patient Identification.
Grassroots Advocacy Award
Did you know that AHIMA has an award for CSAs that participate in federal advocacy and policy engagement?
Every advocacy action taken by Colorado members earns points toward the Grassroots Advocacy Award. We want to make sure our state is well-represented and supporting federal and state-level initiatives.
Colorado currently has a total of 152 Advocacy Actions. The top states are Indiana with 254, Florida with 179, and a tie with Illinois at 179.
There are two Advocacy Take Action items that you can complete now. Each action contributes to the Grassroots Advocacy Award.
- Ask Congress to Urge CMS to Address Prior AuthorizationThe sponsors of the Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act that was introduced last Congress have launched House and Senate sign-on letters to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) urging the agency to finalize a proposed prior authorization reform rule that closely aligns with this legislation.
Now is the time to reach out to ask your members of Congress to sign onto this letter to CMS to ensure prior authorization reform is prioritized and barriers to care are reduced. Join our campaign and ask your members of Congress to sign the letter!
- Tell Us Your Patient ID StoryTell us how you, someone you know, or your work has been affected by the lack of a national strategy around patient identification.
