Sherri has over 20 years experience in health care and health information management. She started coding for a Level I Trauma Center as an inpatient coder and moved on to code each patient type. She has worked for hospital systems in multiple states as well as several contract coding companies. She has had many opportunities to code, audit, supervise, and manage throughout the country and has worked at facilities from community hospitals to major academic medical centers.
Sherri has found that regardless of her position, she seems to get drawn into coder education. Some of her favorite experiences have been preparing coders for new software systems as well as the training and implementation of clinic coding and charge auditing for over 50 multispecialty clinics, and then of course, the implementation of ICD-10. She currently works for Children’s Hospital Colorado where she holds the title of Coding Compliance and Education Specialist. She enjoys working with all coders in enhancing their knowledge base in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT!
