Ann Barta, MSA, RHIA, CDIP
Ann Barta, MSA, RHIA, CDIP is a Senior ICD-10 Consultant for United Audit Systems, Inc. (UASI). In her role at UASI she performs consulting services for various clients in a variety of ICD-10 areas including education, implementation, documentation gap analysis and reimbursement analysis. Prior to joining UASI, Ms. Barta was the Director of HIM Solutions for AHIMA, In this role, she provided professional expertise to AHIMA members, the media, and outside organizations on professional practice issues. Additionally, Ms. Barta was also responsible for providing coding expertise in ICD-10-CM/PCS, ICD-9-CM and CPT/HCPCS. She was also one of the co-authors of the training material for AHIMA’s ICD-10-CM/PCS Academies and is an AHIMA Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer. Prior to joining AHIMA in 2008, Ms. Barta participated in a one-year contract between the AHIMA Foundation of Research and Education and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to determine potential impact s to CMS’s processes and systems with the transition from ICD-9-CM to ICD-10-CM/PCS. Prior to that, she served as a corporate coding manager for a large healthcare system and has more than 30 years of experience as an HIM director and coding consultant. Ms. Barta also has been an educator of coding and HIM for more than 20 years, served as an Associate Dean for Health Sciences, and was system coordinator for an RHIT program. Ms. Barta received her master’s of science in health service administration from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and her bachelor’s of science in medical records administration from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.
