CHIMA’s Data Quality Committee is happy to announce the return of the CCS prep course! This one-day class, presented by a team of professionals, is a great refresher to prepare you to sit for the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) exam through AHIMA. With course instruction designed around the CCS domains, this review class will cover ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT/HCPCS coding, DRG and APC methodologies, and test taking strategies. Space is limited, so register today!

Jolena Brewer, RHIT
Jolena is a Hospital Outpatient Coding Auditor and Educator for Centura Heath. She is responsible for performing internal audits as well as analyzing and summarizing external audit results. She also plans and performs coding education. Jolena is a member of CHIMA and currently volunteers with the Data Quality Committee. She maintains her RHIT credential that she obtained in March of 2012. She loves living in Colorado and exploring the great outdoors!
Bryna Mirabella, RHIT
Bryna started her career in 1991 in HIM, working her way up the ladder. Since starting at Centura Health 11 years ago, where she was hired as an ED coder, she has learned new patient types, working her way up to Hospital Outpatient Coding Auditor and Educator for the Hospital Outpatient Surgery/Observation/IR team. She has worked as a billing manager on the physician side for 10 years before joining Centura, where her passion for CPT coding started. She enjoys teaching others to help them advance their coding.
Kristi Pollard, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CIRCC
Kristi has more than 20 years of coding experience as a coder, supervisor, auditor, consultant, and educator. As a senior consultant with Haugen Consulting Group, she is responsible for developing and presenting coding education and performing DRG and APC audits. She has a passion for surgical coding as well as vascular interventional radiology and cardiac catheterization-based procedures. Kristi has served CHIMA as co‐chair of the Data Quality Committee and ICD‐10 Task Force as well as board director and is a past president of NCHIMA. She gives back to the profession in her Coder Coach blog and was the proud recipient of the AHIMA Triumph Award for Mentoring in 2011 and CHIMA Distinguished Member (2018) and Outstanding Volunteer (2013) awards.
Sherri Ward, RHIA, CCS
Sherri has over 20 years’ experience in health care and health information management. She started coding for a Level I Trauma Center as an inpatient coder and moved on to code each patient type. She has worked for hospital systems in multiple states as well as several contract coding companies. She has had many opportunities to code, audit, supervise, and manage throughout the country and has worked at facilities from community hospitals to major academic medical centers.
Sherri has found that regardless of her position, she seems to get drawn into coder education. Some of her favorite experiences have been preparing coders for new software systems as well as the training and implementation of clinic coding and charge auditing for over 50 multispecialty clinics, and then of course, the implementation of ICD-10. She currently works for Children’s Hospital Colorado where she holds the title of Coding Compliance and Education Specialist. She enjoys working with all coders in enhancing their knowledge base in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT!
Jacquie Zegan, CCS, RCC
Jacquie Zegan is a Certified Coding Specialist and Radiology Certified Coder. She is a Senior Consultant with United Audit Systems, Inc. (UASI) based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jacquie has 20 years of experience within the Health Information Management arena and joined UASI in November 2011. Jacquie has been the UASI lead consultant for auditing, education and clinical documentation improvement projects for large and small hospital systems across the country. She has a passion for interventional radiology coding and billing and is a Radiology Certified Coder through the Radiology Coding Certification Board since 2006. Jacquie shares her coding expertise as Co‐Chair of the Colorado HIMA Data Quality Committee.

If you are paying by check, select “mail a check” under payment options. You will later see instructions to print the confirmation page and mail your payment to KnowledgeConnex. The mailing address will be on the invoice. Make your check payable to KnowledgeConnex and include the confirmation/order number with the check. Checks that do not reference the confirmation number will be returned to you and will not be applied to the registration.
